The Bhutan Herbal Tea Farm was established in 2016 and was one of the organic farms to be registered and certified by the National Center for Organic Agriculture in 2018.ย It also received third party certification from the BFDA in 2020. The farm was first established as an experimental garden at RNR Yusipang in 2011, and later in 2016 it was established in Bumthang Dzongkhag.
Bhutan Herbal Tea Farm specializes in high-quality organic herbal teas grown in the pure Himalayan atmosphere, free from pollution. They produce peppermint, chamomile, lemon verbena, sea buckthorn, chrysanthemum, hypericum, and Roman chamomile teas, each with its own distinct flavor, aroma, and health benefits, so that they can concentrate on offering premium herbal teas.
Bhutan Herbal Tea Farm is a partnership business located on 10 acres in Krongmanba, Chhokhor, Bumthang, owned by Mr. Wangchuk Kuenga, who completed specialized training at Buri Andrea’s organic farm in Switzerland and seven years at the Chef’s garden in the United States. They use cover crops and composting to adhere to integrated soil building practices, which reduce nutrient leaching, prevent soil erosion, help hold and release soil moisture, inhibit weed growth, and increase organic matter.
They distribute the goods nationwide through retailers and upscale resorts in addition to selling it directly from the tea farm. Their goal is to create a premium Bhutanese brand of organic herbal tea that is available in numerous countries. The herbal teas are made in a variety of packaging that is both useful for everyday use and appropriate for giving as gifts or souvenirs. They are now a popular destination for tourists and locals alike who are looking for unique experiences, gifts, and information about healthful organic teas and herbs.
Bhutan Herbal Tea also received training on the Bhutan Organic standard from the National Center for Organic Agriculture.ย Products were tested in food testing labs in
2017 and 2021, and no detection of harmful substances were discovered. The Rural Entrepreneur of the Year award was given by DCSI in 2019, and the brand Bhutan certification was obtained in 2023.
Since Bhutan Herbal Tea Farm is all about the natural world’s gift, they make it a point to collaborate with their staff in order to support and conserve environmental issues. By using techniques like composting and cover crops, along with other soil conservation measures, they make sure that the richness of the virgin earth is restored. They will be produced and processed entirely using organic materials. They want to establish a strong brand both domestically and internationally where their goods are marketed.
