Training of Trainers to enhance organic farming in the Country

Dzongkhag Organic focal officials and Agriculture Extension officers from organic production landscape along with BAFRA officials are attending a week-long Training of Trainers (TOT) on organic farming at College of Natural Resources, Lobesa. The TOT is aimed at enhancing knowledge and skills of organic focal and extension officers on organic farming and its importance for sustainable production, environment conservation and human health. The training mainly focuses on organic soil fertility management and plant protection, which are critical concerns in the field. The participants will also explain the registration and certification process for organic operators and its importance for trading organic commodities. TOT is aimed at enhancing the timely service delivery and serve the organic farmers better.

After the TOT, participants will form a critical mass of human resource at the Dzongkhag level for providing awareness and training on organic farming to farmers and operators along the value chain. They will also facilitate registration and certification of organic operators.

The TOT is organized jointly by National Centre for Organic Agriculture (NCOA), Yusipang and National Organic Flagship Programme (NOFP) in collaboration with CNR, Lobesa. The training is organized in two batches from 30th May to 10th June 2022.
